Getting an Expert Review

If you have epilepsy and you’re still having seizures, and if you’re being treated by a primary care doctor, it’s probably time to see if you can get your diagnosis and treatment reviewed by a specialist.

An epilepsy specialist is a neurologist with extensive training and experience in treating seizures.

What usually happens is that the specialist reviews your case, makes suggestions as to your care, and your regular doctor continues to monitor your progress afterwards.

There are several ways to get an expert to review your care. For example:

• Ask your local Epilepsy Foundation for a list of local health professionals or hospitals specializing in epilepsy treatment.
